Mashable recently interviewed Eiji Anouma about A Link Between Worlds and the Legend of Zelda formula.
In this interview Aonuma addressed the need for change in the series. He said that A Link Between Worlds begins this process with the ability to rent items and explore dungeons in any order. According to Aonuma, the Zelda series has become too linear. There are too many aspects of the series which never changes from entry to entry. This problem prevents the game from reaching its full potential, says Eiji Aonuma.
Mashable asked about changes that may be coming to Zelda Wii U as well. While his response was mostly vague, Aonuma did state that some of the characters or game “templates” could be shaken up to create some interesting gameplay. He concluded this interview by saying that we will hear more about Zelda Wii U at E3 2014.
