Majora’s Mask, a game that invokes quite a bit of emotion, but also a game that gets heavily criticized for the duration and the 3-day cycle, although this game has its ups and downs, you can’t help but feel the sentiment of everything that this game possesses. This game also relies on the faith in the main protagonist of this title, this is such a unique concept, because it is an unknowing faith in the main protagonist, but it also relates to how some people are, some people will deny to the point that even when they are seeing all the signs, they will still refuse to admit it. This game depicts it perfectly, because it relates to not just people denying it, but also people having obligations or that people have a dedication to someone or something that they are attached to.
So let’s take a look at this widely criticized game. Everyone was coming off of the first 3-D Zelda game and they had high expectations, since this was the second 3-D title that Nintendo had released, the game was released and everyone was excited to see what adventures our hero Link was going to get into. Needless to say, everyone was on the fence about the new title that was going to follow the previous title, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Well, personally in my opinion, it did do this, we continue in our adventure for the search of our friend Navi the fairy, but that is not our only evidence, everyone, whether it is a mirror reflection of the characters from Ocarina of Time or a slightly altered version of someone Link knew back in Hyrule. I personally believe that Majora’s Mask kicked the door in and redefined that a Zelda game could be different than just fighting Ganon/Ganondorf as the main antagonist.
Everyone will have their own stance and opinions on how this game played out and that is great, because having the same opinion would not give us the unique views and the different styles that The Legend of Zelda has given us. This is also what makes the Zelda community so awesome, this community has been one of the most inspirational and most friendly communities that I have ever seen.
This is what personally brought me to this franchise, Majora’s Mask and how the fate of a whole world was on the shoulders of one young man. I personally hope we get to see more titles in the future that are either similar to this or we get a game where we see more backstory of the lineage of Majora’s Mask and how it came to be.
