Famitsu, a line of Japanese video game magazines well-known for their “cross review” scoring of games, has just revealed Breath of the Wild’s score in their latest issue: a perfect score, which is a 40/40.
In my opinion, this is some cool news, despite whether fans agree with Famitsu’s scores or not. Four Zelda games have gotten a perfect score, making the Zelda series a sixth of that list. These perfectly-scored titles include Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, and Skyward Sword.
Since its first issue in 1986, Famitsu has given out only 23 perfect scores to games, so this makes Breath of the Wild the 24th addition to that list. And for those who don’t know, the Zelda series is one of only three series to have received multiple perfect score reviews, the others including Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. Other Nintendo titles to receive this perfect score from Famitsu include Nintendogs, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Pokémon: Black Version and White Version.
This week’s Famitsu publication has been primarily covering Breath of the Wild, including this fantastically nostalgic art of the original Link handing Breath of the Wild Link the Master Sword, which you can find at Famitsu’s Twitter page.
