Allegiance: Kingdom of Hyrule

Bio:

Upon the time of his birth, Link was marked as the Gods’ Chosen Hero by the ancient prophecy. As the son of a Royal Knight and head of the King’s Guard, Link was raised to become a warrior and Hyrule’s Champion. He underwent rigorous training and rarely spent time playing with other children, but was isolated in the combat grounds. For a child, Link was incredibly ambitious. He went head to head against well-trained knights from the moment he could wield a sword. Tempered with such tenacity, Link strived to be the best he could be. However, Link is often never aware of how far he pushes himself to the point that even his superiors have to forcibly stop him. On multiple occasions, he would challenge at least four knights against him alone, and won several matches. Though he is incredibly skilled, Link had poor sportsmanship during sparring matches, and would often gloat and show off in his victories. Even so, Link was only fourteen before he was knighted by the King of Hyrule, and dubbed a Royal Knight.

It was then that Link was assigned as Princess Zelda’s chosen knight to further prepare against Ganon’s inevitable return. At first, Zelda admired Link’s confidence, but his sarcastic wit proved to be too much for her to take him seriously. If he was to be Zelda’s knight, Link thought it best to get to know her personally, but she would often give him the cold shoulder. As an alternative, he reached out to Arion in order to learn more about Zelda, which resulted in them becoming close friends. It wasn’t until the Yiga clan ambushed the princess during an expedition of a decommissioned Divine Beast, and Link came to her rescue. Not only did Zelda warm up to him, Link toned down his cocky attitude when it came to her safety. He realized he needed to grow in his maturity and asked Impa to further his training. Even through his years of expertise, Impa saw that Link lacked the discipline of a warrior and hero. He would fight for personal glory and praise rather than the honor and respect of his brothers in arms. It was because of Impa that Link learned of Hyrule’s downfall generations ago. The once conceited kingdom reveled in its vanity and technological prowess that Calamity Ganon was successful in Hyrule’s destruction.

Link had changed his arrogant behavior since then, and even became invested in Zelda’s research of the ancient Sheikah technology. He also saw the Yiga Clan become an increasing threat, and partnered with Arion to weed them out. All this time and he never once questioned the path laid out for him. The more he humbled himself, the more Link saw how the people were praising him as a hero. It soon became uncomfortable for him, and he began to doubt himself. Impa once said to him that when the people see a hero, they see him carrying the dawn, but not the weight of the world he drags behind. Link wondered to himself if people only saw a hero of a distant legend, not a boy who spent his life preparing to defend them.
