Aonuma discusses Zelda: A Link Between Worlds’ music

A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to A Link to the Past in every imaginable way. The overworld is almost identical, there are many returning characters, and the stories are somehow connected. However that does not mean the games are identical. There are plenty of new gameplay elements, and according to an interview with Aonuma, the music is something that will be modified as well.

While this game will use many of the musical themes from A Link to the Past,  Aonuma noted that they have made significant upgrades to the songs.

We will be using arrangements of music from A Link to the Past, since this is a sequel to that game, and we are also trying to make the music sound like it’s played on real instruments. People who know the original will definitely be able to tell and be happy about it, while newcomers will also be able to enjoy it.
