As someone who enjoys 100% completing games, earning an alternate ending is always a satisfying achievement. Through an interview with IGN Portugal, Eiji Aonuma confirmed that at least one alternate ending will exist in Breath of the Wild.
He states in the interview that an alternate ending exists “if you meet certain criteria” and that “if you do a few things, you may see a different ending.” Any further hints on how to get the alternate ending, unfortunately, has not been revealed.
I can’t help but wonder if the alternate ending will be something iconic for the series, like Link marrying Zelda or joining her side to aid the royal family. Perhaps what has been destroyed by Calamity Ganon may be rebuilt. Either way, it is an exciting thought. Theories around this alternate ending are beyond hype-inducing.
