Nintendo of America’s recent Twitter post revealed a system anticipated by fans since the release of the NES Classic Edition last year. The Super NES Classic Edition system is set to launch on September 29th for $79.99 and, according to the box, will likely contain two controllers. It will include games such as the never released Star Fox 2, A Link to the Past, Earthbound, and 18 other games, which can be found below.

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

The NES Classic Edition was discontinued earlier this year for reasons unknown. Upon release, it sold out almost immediately and was unfortunately difficult to obtain due to limited stock, so I’m hoping that this system will be easier for fans to get their hands on.

I am personally very excited for A Link to the Past, Earthbound, and Super Mario RPG, but what are your thoughts on the upcoming SNES Classic Edition? Feel free to share in the comments below.
