While exploring stores on Etsy, I came across some fantastic artwork by Barrett Biggers, a Florida-based “tra-digital” artist whose paintings and designs are intricate and breathtaking. According to Biggers’ Etsy shop, “As a digital fine artist, he also is a prolific digital painter with a purely obsessive drive to make his digital art look more traditional. It has been named ‘tra-digital’ art by many and it focuses on emotion and texture rather than photo-perfect realism.”

Biggers has been creating art since 2012. He started his art career by making websites, logos, and brochures for companies. Wanting to do more with his talent, he pursued fan-art based on his favorite games, anime, and movies, but mainly that involving the Legend of Zelda series. He currently has about forty Zelda-inspired pieces in total, most of which are black-and-white vintage pieces, with a couple of shirt designs not yet listed on Etsy.

Biggers’ black-and-white, museum-quality Link portrait. It is one of my favorites in his store.

Biggers plans on creating more Zelda-inspired pieces, continuing Ocarina of Time-related ones and older classics for his black-and-white designs. Additionally, he plans on producing more faux advertisements for iconic items like Lon Lon Milk, the Hookshot, and the Fairy Fountain. Some of these vintage ad pieces he currently has available for purchase are the Master Sword, bombs, and Deku Nuts. Aside from Zelda artwork, he also sells pieces based on the Metroid series and Hayao Miyazaki films.

His personal favorite piece in his store is his Breath of the Wild painting he recently made. With a nostalgic, 80s, Jim Henson-feeling style to it, he enjoys how it looks more like an animated movie poster rather than a game poster.

“Open Your Eyes,” by Barrett Biggers.

Biggers said that he’s proud to create art inspired by what he considers the greatest game stories and worlds ever created.

“I want to only enhance the image of Zelda and Nintendo through my art – so that being said please support and buy official merchandise from them, but remember when you get art from smaller indie artists like me you get to support someone directly and get unique interesting art you might not get anywhere else. I sincerely thank all my buyers and supporters out there – they mean the world to me!”

It was an absolute pleasure interviewing Biggers and getting a closer look at his awesome artwork. You can check out more of his art pieces and t-shirts through his Etsy store. So, readers, what are your thoughts on his work? Which piece is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below! We’d love to hear.
