According to the Splatoon US Tumblr site, Splatoon will be getting a Wii U bundle sale exclusive through Best Buy and BestBuy.com.
Selling for $299.99, this bundle will also include Nintendo Land, one of the first titles for the Wii U.
Splatoon is mostly a team-based third-person shooter game which is playable by up to eight players in online 4v4 matches, although the game also features a single-player campaign. Players control characters called Inklings, who have the ability to change between humanoid and squid forms. In humanoid form, Inklings can shoot colored ink across the game environment, with the player’s goal being to cover the most territory in their team’s color before the match ends. Transforming into a squid allows players to swim through ink of their own color, even up walls and through grates, hiding from the enemy and replenishing their ink supply in the process. Players can use their ink to try and “splatter” their opponents, which will send them back to their team’s respawn point while also providing a large splat of ink.
Teased by The Hidden Triforce’s very own Noah Glaser, Splatoon looks to be a fun and welcome addition to the Wii U.
This bundle is due out in Best Buy stores and BestBuy.com on May 29th.
